Year 2's News
Year 2 have thoroughly enjoyed getting back to their learning after the Christmas break. We have been enjoying exploring our new topics in all subjects. In English, we have been reading “Hansel and Gretel” by Anthony Brown as part of the topic Dystopian Worlds. We have read the book, thought about the emotions of the characters and acted out the story.
In Maths, we have moved on from learning about money, to work on multiplication. Year 2 are taking this opportunity to re-enforce our 2, 5 and 10 times tables, which we have been working on all year.
Finally, in Science, Year 2 are beginning to learn about Animals and their Habitats. We started the topic by thinking about the three categories of things we come across “alive, dead and never alive”. This made us really think about the items around us and what they are made of. We then moved on to learning about different habitats within the United Kingdom, particularly focusing on the habitat we are in, which is a town habitat with gardens. We also discussed how our presence as humans in this habitat, made animals adapt their behavior.
