YEAR 1

In year one children will be provided with a reading book and the children can change these books on a weekly basis.  We would encourage you to read with your child every night and talk to them about what they are reading. If you would like to discuss how you can help your child at home, please see your child's class teacher. We welcome parental involvement in the life of our school. If you are able to visit the school or help in any way, please contact your child’s class teacher.
Y1 2    Y1 3
Year 1 will be looking at the tiger who came to tea as their literacy text. They will be writing a continuation of the story and experiencing a tea party for themselves. The class will be visiting the National Gallery where they will explore the ‘surprised’ painting by Henri Rousseau which depicts a tiger in a jungle setting. This will link to the science topic of plants where the children will be identifying common trees and plants as well as growing beans. In geography the class will be naming the continents and will be learning where tigers come from.
