Travel Plan
At Mulgrave Primary School we encourage pupils and parents to travel to school by cycling, scooting and walking (active travel) wherever possible.
Mulgrave Primary School’s travel plan has progressed excellently and 70% of our children are either walking, cycling or scooting to school regularly. We are continuing to promote active modes of transport for getting to school so we can increase that figure and have even less children travelling to school by car.
We have been doing a variety of activities throughout the school to emphasise how we travel can impact our health and the environment. We have learned about air quality; how physical activity can boost our brain power for learning and the importance of practicing road safety skills such as the Green Cross Code. There has been a lot of hard work completing our Travel for Life accreditation application (formerly known as STARS), but we achieved a Gold standard in September 2024.
At Mulgrave we have Travel for Life Ambassadors (formerly Junior Travel Ambassadors / JTAs) who encourage people to travel to and from school in an active way. They also support Ms Catargiu to deliver our travel plan by encouraging children to learn about active, safe and clean travel. They have done this through assemblies, active travel challenges and competitions within the school.
