Year 5
Welcome to 5 Olive and 5 Cedar!
At Mulgrave, we aim for all Year 5 children to have a fun-filled, exciting and educationally
stimulating time at primary school. We provide a broad and balanced curriculum, as well as opportunities for children to participate in a range of extra-curricular activities. There is opportunities for pupils to go on a school journey with their peers, allowing time to further build strong relationships as well as their own self-confidence and independence. Year 5 also take part in swimming once a week, as part of their physical education entitlement. The aim is to ensure all children can swim with confidence by the end of the year.
By the end of Year 5, pupil’s writing and reading is expected to be sufficiently fluent and effortless for them to manage the demands of the curriculum in Year 6 leading up to the SATS. Children are encouraged to build their independence, resilience and stamina throughout year 5 to enable there to be a smooth transition to year 6.
