D.T.
In Design and Technology (D.T.) at Mulgrave, we enable the children to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of designing and making functional products. We nurture creativity and innovation through design, and by exploring the designed and made world in which we all live and work. It is primarily about the process. The children are empowered and develop their skills during the processes. The purpose of D.T. is to question, explore and develop STEM skills (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
Every class is taught D.T. for 3 terms over the year. As a school, we follow the industry designed Projects on a Page Scheme (Design and Technology Association). The children build on their engineering skills every year.
Over the topics we engage in:
- Investigative and evaluative activities
- Focused tasks
- Design, Make and Evaluate opportunities
We recognise that engineering and design plays an important part in our whole curriculum and endeavour to make cross curricular links wherever possible.
